Focus on 2016: Time to Rock Enrollment
Date: Monday, July 27, 2015
Time: 2-3 p.m. EDT
As states focus on the next open enrollment period, they must employ strategies to retain enrollees as well as take more directed efforts to reach individuals that remain uninsured yet may qualify for affordable coverage through the marketplaces or expanded Medicaid programs. In this webinar, national and state speakers shared promising and effective strategies for enrollment and retention. State speakers from California and Washington focused on key elements of enrollment including consumer assistance, outreach and marketing, Medicaid and exchange integration, and the use of data to boost enrollment. A NASHP expert shared lessons from 10 states learned through the Enrollment 2014 project and recently published in an issue brief and a State Refor(u)m chart.

For individuals living with complex, often chronic conditions, and their families, palliative care can provide relief from symptoms, improve satisfaction and outcomes, and help address critical mental and spiritual needs during difficult times. Now more than ever, there is growing recognition of the importance of palliative care services for individuals with serious illness, such as advance care planning, pain and symptom management, care coordination, and team-based, multi-disciplinary support. These services can help patients and families cope with the symptoms and stressors of disease, better anticipate and avoid crises, and reduce unnecessary and/or unwanted care. While this model is grounded in evidence that demonstrates improved quality of life, better outcomes, and reduced cost for patients, only a fraction of individuals who could benefit from palliative care receive it.
