Leveraging Open Source Code to Build a More Efficient Marketplace
Agile, efficient, and cost-effective, the District of Columbia has experienced many positive effects since moving its marketplace to an open source platform for the third open enrollment period. During this webinar, the DC HealthLink team will explain how and why they transitioned to an open source model and the benefits—including savings—they have yielded from the transition. Rob Shriver, Director of Marketplace Innovation, Policy, and Operations for DC HealthLink will walk through an explanation of D.C.’s open source technology, including a brief demo of how the code operates for its SHOP platform.
This webinar is open to state health insurance marketplace officials only. If you have any questions, please contact Christina Cousart ccousart@oldsite.nashp.org

For individuals living with complex, often chronic conditions, and their families, palliative care can provide relief from symptoms, improve satisfaction and outcomes, and help address critical mental and spiritual needs during difficult times. Now more than ever, there is growing recognition of the importance of palliative care services for individuals with serious illness, such as advance care planning, pain and symptom management, care coordination, and team-based, multi-disciplinary support. These services can help patients and families cope with the symptoms and stressors of disease, better anticipate and avoid crises, and reduce unnecessary and/or unwanted care. While this model is grounded in evidence that demonstrates improved quality of life, better outcomes, and reduced cost for patients, only a fraction of individuals who could benefit from palliative care receive it.
